Happy Holidays from sunny Florida. I've been so busy with Aquarian Bath, that I haven't had a lot of time for jewelry updates. I'm excited that I sold a lot of jewelry pieces over the the holiday season so I've restocked my bead supply. I even picked up a ear wire making tool and am looking forward to sharing some really beautiful silver pieces soon in faceted topaz, tourminalated quartz, garnet, and amethyst. In the meantime you can see I'm down to less than a page of items in my Delicate Adornments Etsy shop! For shame!

Green Peace and a Hop Around My Women's Business Network

The Unique Women in Business Network is sponsoring a February blog hop with the theme "Something Green." I'm happy to have a little bit of a nudge from them to make a blog post, since I haven't had a chance to update this blog since before Christmas. Ouch! I been so busy with soap and herbal items that I haven't had a lot of time to make jewelry, but I'm hoping to be able to do so again soon. My husband and I have been looking for a house with more space for our businesses. It will be awesome to have a dedicated jewelry making area. In the meantime I hope you like this green peace sign necklace that I made a while back. It is one of my favorites. I strung it on thick green silk cording and it is knotted with 8 mm blackstone, moss agate, and jade. The central pendant is carved shell and it has a gorgeous sterling silver 'S' clasp. This one of a kind item would make a great gift for a green eyed lady like myself. : )

Can't wait to check out all the other unique items from the ladies in my network. You can find their green items below and pick them up in time for St. Patrick's Day next month.

South Beach Miami and Coral Castle Videos

My family and I recently took a vacation to South Beach, Miami and Homestead, Florida. The final destination was The Coral Castle. While we were there we took some video footage. My husband made these youtube videos with the footage. The first is a music video with footage from Miami and Parts of the Coral Castle. I wish Scott would have added more video or stills from the other stones in the castle, but it is still pretty cool. In the second video Scott narrates as I ask questions about the equipment we found in the castle. Ed Leedskalnin, builder of the megalithic castle, is purported to have covered up the equipment when visitors were present. Scott has some pretty good ideas as to how the castle was constructed using magnetic flux.

Hope you like the videos. I promise to list some more jewelry soon. I have some lovely destash amber and semiprecious stone necklaces. Here are a couple I recently photgraphed.

Mini Me is Minnie Mouse This Halloween

Moira and I were wondering how we should dress up Tessa for Halloween. Luckily my mother decided for me! This sweet Minnie Mouse costume arrived in the mail last week, and we couldn't be happier with it. Tessa gave me a big smile when I put the head band on her and showed her how she looked in big sister Moira's bedroom mirror. Here is Tessa, exactly 5 months old, riding in her sling in her new Minnie Mouse costume. As I'm sure you would agree, this picture is too cute but not exactly spooky. However, I would like to enter it in this Spook-A-Look Halloween Photo Contest. The contest is hosted by Giveaway Blogs and Uprinting.com. Wish me luck!

Artist Amber Moran of West Palm Beach, Florida just completed this portrait of my two girls, Moira and Tessa. I just wanted to share it. I'm really overjoyed at how it turned out. As someone who does custom work, I really appreciate it when the customer just trusts me with my process while giving me a few guidelines and frame work. I was excited to see what Amber would come up with when I did the same for her. I just told her that I would like both girls if possible and something fun and whimsical. Then I sent her a couple of pictures and a link to my twitpic account. I was so surprised and delighted with what she did. A Little Rearranging

One of the draw backs of having two home businesses operating in the same home is space constraints. My office and jewelry making area is actually in what *should* be the dining room area. I've recently cut a couch out of my office to make a baby barrier in the living room for our soon to be crawling 4 month old. Can you tell she's getting quite mobile?

With the couch out of my office, this brings up the thought that maybe I now have room for a mini dining area or one of these types of bistro sets in my office. I do love rearranging! Speaking of which, my friend just called with the thought that I should start again to sell online my intentional jewelry combinations. These are combinations made with the metaphysical properties of the stones in mind. Something to ponder. I may have to add another section to my Etsy shop. Below is one of my necklaces with stones for increasing energy and reducing pain. I used to sell these in my Chinese Therapeutics online store. Hmm.. what do you think?

A Nice Afternoon at the Fair Share Garden

My daughter and I planted seeds for the Fall garden at Fair Share last night. Moira planted Zuchinni and Brocolli, while I planted Blue Corn, Blue Hubbard Squash, Luffa, and Amaranth. She earned a new notebook yesterday for drawing plants and animals. Moira is homeschooled so drawing plants and animals is a part of her Biology education. Here she is hard at work. She's sitting on part of a fountain that was donated to the garden, and below the fountain is the Sun Dial made by ERAU professor and volunteer Jason Aufdenberg. My husband took this picture from the roof while he was working on the new irrigation system that we are installing.

Florida Fiber Artist Dij Pacarro

I met fiber artist Dij Pacarro at the Peabody Arts on Stage event a little while back. Dij wasn't showing at the event, but she certainly could have been. Dij resides in Melbourne and has her work on display at Art and Antique Studio and Art Gallery of Viera. I am really impressed with all of her wonderful Fiber art quilts. New Batch of Earrings

I just took a second round of photos with my new camera and am at work again listing a new batch of earrings in my Etsy Shop.
Here are two of them. The first is are purple iridescent hand blow glass dangles on Sterling Silver.

The second is a pair or garnet and snowflake obsidian rounds on Sterling Silver.

Butterfly Rescue

About a month ago Moira asked me if we found a butterfly with a hurt wing could we take it home and rescue it. Well look what we found on our walk tonight. A grounded butterfly with a hurt wing. Moira carefully carried this lovely little creature all the way home. A few times the wind caught its wings and it was able to cruise just a bit through the air, but it just couldn't make it up off the ground again. So this beauty is living on my front porch in my pot of Houttuynias.

New Camera! New Listings!

Hurray!! I had a little hang up back in May with my old camera failing, followed by the new camera (used but new to me) having a defect and needing to trade it in. It has taken me until now to get back up to speed with listing. My new camera is here and I'm quite happy with it. It's a HP photsmart M537. I've found that HP cameras are a good choice for when you need to take nice close up photos of small items such as jewelry. Here are the two newest listings for my etsy store. There will be more to come soon.

Thanks for dropping in to visit the new blog for Delicate Adornments. I am continuing to add new products to my Etsy shop slowly but surely. I took a little break from listing new items until my new camera arrives. In the meantime my new business cards have arrived and I have my first sale in my new Etsy shop!

I am looking forward to making more jewelry over the summer. What are your favorite colors and stones? What would you like to see more of in my shop? Personally my favorite color is green, and I have put in an order for green silk cording.
